    Import your spreadsheet

Choose an Excel workbook or CSV file. For workbooks, select the sheets you want to use.

  2. 02

    Check the data preview

Confirm the headings and series. Switch the row and column orientation if needed before importing.

EXCEL / CSV

Give your spreadsheet a clear starting point

  • Use one header row with short names for each column.
  • Put categories or dates in one column and numeric values in the others.
  • Use a simple rectangular table. Turn merged headings and totals into a clean data table first.
  • Check the import preview: you control which rows and columns become chart series.

Choose a chart that fits your question

Bar chart

Which category is larger?

Useful for comparing products, teams or sales by month.

Line chart

How is it changing?

Useful for a series of dates, monthly traffic or a metric over time.

Pie chart

How is the total divided?

Useful for a few non-negative categories that make up a whole. For many categories, try bars.

Questions about Excel to chart

Which file formats can I import?

You can import .xlsx and .xls Excel workbooks, or .csv files. The total size of each import is limited to 20 MiB. Workbooks can contain multiple sheets; you confirm the sheets and data orientation before import.

Is my spreadsheet uploaded?

Spreadsheet parsing, chart editing and export rendering run in your browser. Saving a cloud template uploads its chart configuration and data to PeasyChart. Export authorization uses the server to check your allowance or membership.

Can I make charts for free?

Yes. Guests and free accounts can export PNG, JPEG and SVG within the current daily allowance. Check the pricing page for current limits. PDF, GIF, MP4 and interactive HTML require sign-in and an active trial or paid membership.

What if the rows and columns are reversed?

Use the orientation switch in the import preview before confirming. Each worksheet can be adjusted separately. The preview shows what will become data points and what will become series.

Can I use the chart in PowerPoint?

Yes. Export an image and insert it into your presentation. SVG is useful when you need a scalable image. PeasyChart does not export a native PowerPoint file.

What are the spreadsheet limits?

Each import supports up to 50 worksheets. Each worksheet supports up to 5,000 data rows and 50 series, subject to the import preview validation. Smaller, focused tables are easier to read as charts.
